Overview

What do you do when your child comes out to you? When your friend tells you she’s a lesbian? When your co-worker is convinced he is trans? Our first instinct is to try and fix the problem or somehow manage through it. Rarely do we do the most powerful and effective thing: Run as fast as we can to God in prayer.Going to God is exactly what Becket Cook’s mother did when she found out he was gay. She didn’t try to badger or bludgeon him with Bible verses. She didn’t try to convince him to change his mind. Deep down, she knew his heart needed a total transformation, so she went straight to the One who is in the business of transforming lives. In A Mother’s Prayer for Her Gay Son, you will peer into the way in which Becket’s mother sought to help her son. Becket takes you on a journey through a recently discovered detailed, typed prayer letter with two dozen prayer points from his Christian mother. You will discover how she fervently and expectantly prayed for him for many years. After living as a gay man for sixteen years in Hollywood, Becket had an unexpected and dramatic conversion to Christ. Little did he know that his mother was praying for him for all those years. The best part: God answered her prayers. Throughout these pages, Becket examines each desire in his mother’s precious letter to God. You will be engaged with personal stories of what was going on in Becket’s life at the time and be encouraged with how those stories correlate with specific pleas in her letter to God.
