Overview

It has been said and rightly so that the greatest problem with the Christian church throughout the centuries has been an identity crisis—we are not sure who we are. The church as an institution is inseparable from western culture, and yet a true theological, biblical, and prophetic understanding of the church is all too often beyond our understanding. Who we are. Why are we here. What our place is in history. These questions few Christians seem to understand. And yet an understanding of these matters is among the highest, most joyful, and glorious of all human ideas. That is the purpose of this small book. To clarify the question of our identity.

Author Biography

Tommy Nelson taught over ninety Song of Solomon marriage conferences nationwide, has authored books and video series. He retired in June 2025 after fifty years of ministry, serving forty-eight of those years on staff at Denton Bible Church in Denton, TX, retiring as the Senior Pastor. Tommy and his wife, Teresa, were married in 1974. Their two sons and their wives have given them six grandchildren.
